Assign a number to a person or a call flow

Decide where calls to each number land: nobody, a call flow, or one person's direct line.

Every number on your account does one of three things with incoming calls: nothing, follows a call flow, or rings one person directly. Admins set this under Settings > Numbers.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Numbers. The list shows each number, its description and what it's assigned to.

  2. Click the settings icon at the end of the row.

  3. Give the number a Description that says what it's for: "Main line", "Sales", "Sam's direct line".

  4. Under Assigned to, choose:

- None: the number doesn't take incoming calls. Useful for a number you only present as caller ID.

- Call flow: calls follow a flow you've built, with opening hours, menus and ring groups.

- User: the number becomes that person's direct dial number and rings only them.

  1. Under Outbound access, add anyone who should be able to present this number as their caller ID.

  2. Click Save.

Good to know

  • One number, one destination. To share a number between several people, assign it to a call flow with a ring group.

  • The number marked Default Caller ID is what people without a direct number present when they call out. Change it under Settings > Global settings.

  • Emergency calls from a number go to the address registered against it. Tell us if a number moves to someone at a different location.
